In this 2 hour workshop, students will get an introduction to the magic of natural dyeing through a technique called bundle dyeing! A beautiful way to imprint flowers, leaves, and berries onto fabric, each bundle will be an experiment of colour and texture, and students will go home with their very own organic cotton and silk dyed scarf.
You will learn how the fabric is prepared for dyeing, some general knowledge on natural dyeing and printing, which plants you can use, and also about how to modify colours by shifting the pH level of the water. We will also use flowers and leaves from our own dyeing garden at the studio.
All materials are included in this course.
If you have some flowers or other natural materials you would like to try to print with, feel free to bring them along!
