About Aida:
Born and raised in Iran, Tehran, Aida Kasaei – @aidakash – did her Fashion Design studies in Amsterdam Fashion Institute. Her designs are characterized by traditional craft, mostly using embroidery techniques, and creating simple shapes and her keen eye for detail. Designing clothes is a way for her to express her emotions and thoughts. What appeals to her especially when designing is the story behind every item of clothing. There are many sources of inspiration around us, but what she sees as a challenge is to translate these inspirations into ideas that form the basis for a new design. Her commitment to sustainability is evident throughout all her work. Her desire is to change the conditions of the current fashion system into a more eco-friendly way, by using craftsmanship. Aida teaches sewing lessons in the Sewing Cafe and different fashion design and sewing courses at De Steek. And at the moment she is also busy setting up her own studio in Schiedam!

*It could be necessary to do a little bit of sewing homework in this course if you’re able to do that at home.
**If you miss a lesson, you can catch up in the Sewing Cafe (but you have to let us know max. 1 day before the lessons starts that you are missing it!).
