It is also possible for the youngest ones to start learning crafting & clothing making techniques! Just like riding a bike, if you start young, you’ll never forget.

In this 4-day Summer Course, children aged 7-12 will learn creative play with techniques like sewing, weaving, and many more crafty techniques. They will also learn in a fun, interactive and creative way about fabrics and sustainable fashion by applying various upcycling and repair techniques.

Every day we will focus on another theme:

Day 1: Yarn & Macramé Magic
We’re kicking things off with soft, cozy yarn and a little knot-tying creativity!

  • Knit Your Own Bag: Kids will learn to hand-knit a small bag using thick, soft wool
  • Macramé Keychain Holder: Using macramé techniques and beads, everyone will design and create their very own keychain holder to take home.

Day 2: From drawing to embroidery
It’s all about turning ‘waste’ into wonder and turning ideas into reality.

  • Sew & Embroider a Tote Bag: Each child will sew a tote bag and personalize it by embroidering their own drawing using our embroidery machine.
  • Weaving with Scraps: Kids will use leftover fabric pieces to weave their own unique textile fabric.

Day 3: Weaving from ‘waste’
Time to bring those woven fabrics to life!

  • Finish Weaving: We’ll complete our handwoven fabric from Day 2.
  • Sew a Zipper Pouch: Using their custom-made fabric, the kids will sew their own zippered pouch — perfect for pencils, treasures, or art supplies!

Day 4: Punch Needle Party
Let’s end the week with texture and flair!

  • Create with Punch Needle: Every child will draw their favorite animal, food, or name onto fabric, choose colorful yarns, and learn the fun, relaxing art of punch needling.

All materials are included in this Summer course. We will be using as many leftover fabrics and materials during the classes as possible.

Both Dutch and English speaking children are welcome to join. Teacher Michelle can speak both Dutch and English.

Students will leave this class with the skills and confidence to tackle more sewing as they develop valuable exposure to creativity, design, fine motor skills, construction/assembly, and more.

Different techniques we will address in the classes: knitting, punch needling, weaving, sewing, embroidery, macramé, and upcycling.
