Textile & Crafting @ De Steek

Follow different textile and crafting lessons at De Steek!

At De Steek, we offer a variety of workshops in the field of textile & crafting. The workshops are for different levels, so both beginners and more advanced students are welcome. De Steek has a community of designers that are guiding and/or developing these workshops. Workshops are available to follow in English if you don’t speak Dutch.

Different techniques & offer

Natural Dyeing/Painting

At De Steek we offer different workshops and sometimes also courses in which you can learn the art of natural dyeing. Workshops are guided/developed by teachers Alice, Rosa & Samm. Most workshops are held in Spring/Summer in our own dyeing garden next to the studio.

Embroidery

Also have a look at our embroidery workshops/courses! They are developed for different levels. Workshops are guided/developed by teachers Ermelinda & Eloise, which both have their own unique style!

Knitting & Crochet

Every Saturday (except for July/August) teacher Petra hosts a combined knitting & crochet class. It’s possible to book one or more lessons to get help with your (first) stitches. Different levels are welcome. We also offer a spinning workshop by Samm Lewis to learn to develop your own yarn!

Macramé

Macramé is also a technique you can find in our program. It’s a traditional knotting technique with which you can create amazing things, like wall hangings & plant hangers. Hannah offers different workshops in this technique at De Steek.

Quilting/Patchwork

Quilting is also a technique that you can find a lot of in our program! We have two lovely teachers, Alice & Ana, who can help you create your own quilted blanket, jacket or cushion cover!

Weaving

Weaving is an undervalued technique, but not at De Steek! Teachers Rosa & Camila can tell & teach you all about it. And how cool is it if you can weave your own scarf, bag or even clothes?
