Free Repair Café

Join the free Repair Café and learn to repair your own clothes!

Every Thursday in 2024 we will offer a free Repair Cafe at our studio! This means you can join for free, walk in within this time frame and bring items from your closet that need some repairing. We will teach you these repairing techniques on both the sewing machine and by hand.
These free session are made possible by the Dutch Municipality of Amsterdam West and our main target group are people with a lower budget, although everyone is welcome to join!

Opening Hours Free Repair Café

Thursday > 4.00 – 8.00 PM

*We host these session every Thursday until the end of the year. There is no Repair Cafe on December 5 & December 26.

How does it work?

Walk-in

You don’t have to register for these session and you can just walk-in between 4.00 and 8.00 PM. It’s also possible to stay as long as you want, but we have to see how busy it will get. On busy evenings we might have to shorten your stay to make space for other people as well.

What is included?

_Machines & use of tools are included in the lessons.
_Haberdasheries, like zippers and buttons, and fabric are partly included. We have a small budget per evening for this and we collect donated materials.
_We have 10 repairing kits with thread and tools available to hand out for free every session (meant for those who need it most).
_There is guidance of two fashion designers available every session to help you with the machine & teach you techniques.
_An E-book with basic repairing techniques is also provided.

We also have a little fabric store at our studio, so it is also possible to purchase extra materials here. Or we can give you tips in the lessons where to go for extra materials, if needed.
