De steek held a repair workshop at the Fashion for Good museum in Amsterdam during museum night. Our goal was to repair old clothing together by bringing people together. Fashion for Good museum strives for innovation and sustainability in fashion. We were asked to design a workshop around these concepts. In order to prevent garments from being thrown away, we wanted people to be able to repair them in a creative way. Revising our clothing helps extends the lifespan of garments and hopefully helps encourage individuals to buy less.
We had over twenty people desiring to understand how to repair and mend their aged items. We provided the introductory tecniques to work with and several tips on which materials/textiels work best this process. We where pleasantly suprised by the clever and unique creations of the participants.
