1 Year De Steek - Upcycle Swap & Café

One Year Anniversary of De Steek! Time for celebration! Saturday January 4, we are organising a Clothing Swap & Upcycle Café in our studio in Amsterdam West. What you can expect:

_Clothing Swap
For a small entry-fee, you can participate in our clothing swap. Bring your old (but still good looking) clothes and swap them for something new!

_Upcycle Café
Did you found something that you really like, but it needs a small change or fix-up? Our fashion designers Nathalie, Natalie & Tara are ready for you to help you alter the pieces to your wishes! Improve the fit or alter the details to make it more personal.

_Embroidery Sessions
We also invited a special guest who can help you to make your clothes even more special. Designer Kathryn is present to teach you a few embroidery stitches to embellish your pieces. Choose a small image and learn to embroider it on your garment or accessory.

_Café
In January our Sewing Café will turn into a real café! At the event we are selling delicious drinks, like cappucino’s, ginger tea and Turmeric Latte. And on January 4 you can also purchase vegan snacks or vegan soup for just a few euro to keep you going during the swapping and sewing.

_Drinks
Stay a bit longer to celebrate the new year and one-year-anniversary with us with a nice drink! (or join the drinks without swapping)

Upcycle Café and Clothing Swap > 11.00 AM – 5.00 PM (7,50 euro fee)
Drinks > 5.00 – 8.00 PM

*Rules: 1> bring good looking items, so don’t bring cheap clothing that lost it’s shape, for example. But what’s allowed: amazing looking pieces with a small hole or stain: because we have a Upcycle Cafe ready to repair the items! 2> We will evaluate your pieces at the door and each item will get a ‘point’ (1, 2 or 3 points). You will get a card with the amount of points that you can use for swapping (for example, a jacket is 3 points, but a T-shirt is 1). 4> You can walk bring items until 4PM (one hour before the swap stops).
