Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week

This week, the Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week that will take place! We are happily involved in the program with the next activities:

Sewing/Repair Cafe
Do you have clothes that could use a repair or an update? And do you need guidance in the making process? Come to our Sewing Cafe! Our Sewing Cafe has been around since 2019 in Amsterdam West and you can visit it for sewing lessons, but you can also just walk in or book a separate lesson to learn to repair or upcycle your own clothes. There is always a fashion designer on hand to help you with the sewing techniques, so it is also possible to join as a beginner.
During DSFW, our Sewing Cafe is relocated at the DSFW event location in the centre of Amsterdam:
Location: Kalverstraat 203 (het oude V&D gebouw), Amsterdam

*Are you hesitant to book a slot as a complete beginner? It’s also possible these days to just pass by and get an impression and ask questions. And we will show-case some free simple & basic repair techniques in those three days. Hope to see you there!

Clothing swap
Visit our studio on Sunday October 9 and start swapping all of your clothes & accessories, which you are already tired of, but are still in tip-top condition, for other pearls. In addition to being super fun and satisfying your shopping urge, you also contribute to a cleaner environment. And it is also nice for your wallet!
Did you find a piece of clothing that day that just doesn’t fit perfeclty or do those long pants look much better than shorts? Then visit our upcycle and repair corner, we are happy to help you adjust your clothes that day!
You don’t have to pay an entrance fee for the event. We do ask that you make a reservation, so that we have an estimate of how many people will be there:

Sewing contest for teenagers
Between October 6-12, a sewing competition for teenagers (aged 10-14) is organised by the Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week. The children are asked to make a bag from recycled materials. In our teen sewing lesson of October 12, we pay attention to this. Do you know or are you a teenager who wants to participate in this competition but could use some help? Sign up for this lesson:

Upcycle Applique Workshop
And as an extension of the Dutch Sustainable Fashion Week (ok, it’s a few days later, but still in the theme), we are organising a two-day upcycling workshop with designer Eloise Ptito! Bring clothes to the workshop that could use something extra and learn how to do this through various embroidery techniques.
